My Inspiration

I’ve always thought it was really cool that my dad was a race car driver before he was born.  Oh, he didn’t do anything major — not stock car racing and certainly not anything professional — but still, he had his own race car, and a van and a trailer for hauling it to races.  I’ve grown up on stories about the races he was in.  From what I can tell from the stories and the picture I’ve seen of him driving his race car, I believe what he raced was known as an open-wheel car.

In any case, it’s my dad that has been the inspiration for my love of cars.  It was he who taught me how to work on my first car — a beautiful copper-colored 1981 Nissan 280ZX.  In fact, it was he who instilled in me a love of sports cars, Z-cars specifically — he had first a 1971 240Z, then a 1979 280ZX while I was growing up.

And so in a way, my dad is the inspiration for my involvement in this blog.  I love you, Daddy!
