Buying Aftermarket Accessories for My Car

In my first post, I talked about how my dad was my inspiration and the reason I had my hot little Nissan 280ZX sports car in the first place.  I worked on my car more back then, when I still lived at home and had money to pour into it.  I bought and installed a lot of aftermarket accessories, such as a performance exhaust, cold air intake, and new wheels and tires.

Of course, I hung out with a bunch of guys who liked cars too, and they were all putting money into truck and SUV accessories for their vehicles.  (This was back when gas was under a dollar a gallon, and people could afford to drive trucks, much less buy accessories for them.)  One of my guy friends had a catch all, and several had truck bed covers.  One guy had a really hot Jeep with huge tires, brush guards, a light bar with five Hella lights on it, and an absolutely gorgeous new paint job.

Those were the days when my friends and I actually had money to spend on our cars.  Not anymore!  I bought my second car (another Nissan 280ZX) several years ago, and the only thing aftermarket I’ve done to it was to switch my stereo from my old car to the new one.  Boy do I miss having extra money to dump into my car — but I guess it’s a sign of growing up!
